Cricket twenty20 – the game of future
The new International Cricket Council Chief Executive Mr. Ray Mali stated that the Twenty20 is a game of future during the launch for Twenty20 World Cup in September. Mali further said with crowd numbers down for Test and one-day cricket, the ICC as well would be looking towards Cricket Twenty20 to capture the public’s interest.
“Within the next five to 10 years, every South African would be playing this kind of cricket and without any doubt this is a huge concept, it is a game of the future,” Mali said.
South Africa captain Graeme Smith stated Twenty20 cricket was well-liked with the player’s addition “T20 cricket has assisted the game move with modern times, its broken moulds – even in terms of our own imagination, and targets that looks not possible are now possible.”
Even the ICC’s cricket manager David Richardson commented saying “I think this set-up is going to show the public exactly how high-quality these guys are. You have the freedom to play like you have never played before.” The Twenty20 World Cup starts on 11th September with the final in Johannesburg on 24th September.
