Cricket Strategy – Bowling Line And Length

There is a practice drill all cricket bowlers must to concentrate on commonly. The practice is, as a cricket player would had learnt “HOW” to bowl, but not necessary “WHERE” to bowl.

Let us see what does LINE and LENGTH really means to in this holy grail of cricket bowling.

HITTING TARGETS

Cricket is a straightforward game of HITTING TARGETS. The direct line for a right hand bowler, bowling over the bowlers end stumps, to a right hand batsman, is that imaginary line that moves from the offside bowler’s end stump to the right handed batsman’s offside stump. This is the TARGET line FOR EVERY BOWLERS.

So the TARGET LINE is the batsman’s OFF STUMP. It’s also same for speedy bowlers, average speed bowlers, off-spin bowlers and leg-break bowlers.

VARIATION

If the bowler’s line remains unvarying, it’s easy to vary the pace of the ball.

This is called as bowling along the “corridor of uncertainty”, if the bowling length is precise. With the correct line and length, it makes ambiguity to the batsman, whether he hit the ball, defends the ball or merely allowed it go through to the keeper.

BOWLING LENGTH

Its not must to carry away too much with the bowling length, in the beginning stage of young cricket bowler’s preparation. On simply making them to land ball into a hoola_hoop on the ground to the face of the batting crease in line with off stump, not an issue what style of delivery ball he would like to bowl.

Shopping Tips On Buying A Cricket Bat

Factors that you need to deal with on buying a new cricket bat are – The Brand, – The Size, – The Model, – The Weight,…these are the just few factors to judge.

And carefully choose the model of cricket bat that most properly fits your style of play. Some bats are designed purposely with certain styles in mind, like cricket bats for strong or big hitters and bats for a stroke player who likes to hit boundaries.

While buying, it is very important to pick the correct size bat. With too large or too small size bat will hinder your playing capacity. The great way to find out the right size of bat is to stand in your batting posture and place the toe of your bat against the outside of your back foot, incline the cricket bat so that the top of the handle rests next to the inside groin of your front leg. If it rest comfortably, the bat is of the right size.

The weight of a cricket bat is almost important, so choose a lighter bat where promising. Common mistake most players do is buying a bat which is too heavy and as a result their performance endures. This is specifically applicable to young players who show much interest in buying either heavier or bigger bats. As an adult, tend to pick a bat with a weight of around 2’8 – 2’10 oz, in a short handle.

Now you can buy cricket bats online cheaper than you prefer offline, since online cricket gear stores tend to have less cost associated with their businesses and so they can offer cheaper prices and discounts. And also most offer guarantees on their bats, so you can return it if the size or weight doesn’t fits your ease.

A tricky tip; if you wish to try a new bat, go to your local store and check the size, weight and feel, then buy online, so you can save money buy this method.

Ponting in Opposition to Team Forbid on Pakistan

Ricky PontingAustralian cricket captain Ricky Ponting on Wednesday insisted on the sport’s heads not to forbid Pakistan’s complete team over a breaking match-fixing scandal.

Ponting said it would be unjust to punish the entire team over “spot-fixing” accusations which have previously seen Pakistan captain Salman Butt and fast bowlers Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir suspended.

The alleges came to light after Britain’s News of the World tabloid supposedly caught Mazhar Majeed, a London-based businessman, organizing no-balls to order in last month’s Test against England at Lord’s.

Ponting, whose team protected an uncertain victory over Pakistan in a Test in Sydney in January — which has now also been labeled into question – said he had considered the likelihood the players had been cooperated.

McCullum Stress to Club Culture Cricket

New Zealand’s hard hitting  batsman and wicket keeper  McCullum was all for cricket to hold club culture similar to that in football, where faithfulness to the country was not compromised.

“There is no reason why you cannot develop a club culture. Football has developed and players are ardent about their clubs, but also love playing for their country. You need both and have to find the right balance. The sport will get richer if you do that, both in terms of fervor and pride, beside with the financial aspect,” reasoned McCullum.

The Kiwi batsman’s proclivity for aggressive strokes has made him a hot attraction in the T20 circuit and it fetched him a profitable deal with Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the opening season of IPL three seasons ago.

In the book, Inside Twenty20 which is co-authored by McCullum, the cricketer declared that he was almost ready to dump New Zealand for the IPL and the report kicked off a disagreement back home.

Asked whether consent is required among players’ associations to provide better bargaining powers for cricketers when dealing with boards about their IPL deals, McCullum was unsure about such a step.

Having give up his wicket keeping role in the longer format, McCullum celebrated his dominance to the opening spot in style, hitting a double century in the drawn second Test in Hyderabad test.

The Kiwi dasher said he owed a lot to Indian batting ace Virender Sehwag for the radical change in his perception of Test batting.

” Virender  Sehwag’s batting has given me the self  confidence to play like that, where you don’t have to be a conservative Test batsman. He is a great player who has made a big role on the game,” McCullum said.
